On 27 October 2026, Mauritania’s National Assembly approved a €50 million Spanish loan for the Senegal River Basin Resilience and Community Development Project. The financing carries a 1.42% annual interest rate, a 30-year repayment period and a five-year grace period, supporting climate-resilient infrastructure and integrated services in targeted border areas. The approval relates to the financing agreement signed in July, rather than a newly completed construction contract.
